Akan National park is a spectacular collection of hot springs, volcanoes, and pristine lakes. We were lucky enough to time our visit so that we experienced the beautiful fall foliage. The fall foliage combined with steaming waterfalls in the crisp autumn air provided some excellent photography opportunities. Some of the images below were taken from the fire escape adjacent to our room at the Emerald Hotel. The Emerald Hotel combines traditional Japanese dining with very modern accomodations. The hot baths at the Emerald Hotel contributed to a wonderful stay at this excellent hotel.
