Indiana has only one federal wildernss area, but Charles Deam makes up in quality what the state lacks in quantity. The wilderness area just south Bloomington provides an excellent network of hiking trails through this second growth forest. The land was completely stripped by the 1850's, but the residents of Indiana had the foresight to replant the forest, and now it is magnificent. The fall foliage added and extra bonus to this wornderful trip.
