Ishi Wilderness Area is the land that A. L. Kroeber wrote about in his famous study of the last Native American discovered in foothills of Mt. Lassen. The wilderness area contains strange conical rock formations, open oak forests, and rushing streams. This beautiful land seems haunted by the original inhabitants, and in the spring the wildflowers are spectacular.
