San Rafael wilderness area is located in the oak covered rolling hills north of Santa Barbara, Califronia. This wilderness area is very remote, and long, winding, rough roads to the trail heads are as beautiful as the wilderness area itself. The wilderness area is a wonderful combination of oak woodlands and desert flora. The hiking trails that course through the canyons of San Rafael are worth the long bumpy ride to the trail heads.
